What are we looking for?
We are looking for a technical support person to expand our support team in the US. You’ll be joining the team to give support over slack and email to our customers, mainly developers, helping them with product questions, solving small use cases, routing them to the right person when needed and tracking everything.
Also, Tinybird is an early-stage startup and there is not a process defined for everything yet, so you need to be open minded and be always thinking about new processes to reduce the time invested in repetitive tasks or iterations over already existing processes to improve their efficiency. You can have a significant impact on the company.
This is a technical position, in other words, you know how to write SQL, write small scripts in python (or any other language), how to use git and so on. You don’t need to be an experienced developer with large projects on your shoulders.
At the same time, we expect you to be proactive in proposing solutions, asking questions, and in general, you should not be afraid of talking to developers (quite the opposite), following our rituals and our communication rules, empathizing as we do and getting into problems as if they were yours. We take support really seriously and it’s something our customers value deeply.
So it is a mix of loving tech and people at the same time :)
We'll take care of your onboarding and help you with everything until you are ready to fly alone. But you don’t have to worry because you’ll be working within the product team, a team of great developers (and even better people!) eager to help you whenever you need. In the onboarding process, you’ll learn a lot about data pipelines, real-time data processing and in general how to process petabytes of data fast.
Some examples
This is the kind of questions we usually answer:
- How do I add a column to a datasource?
- Can I connect kafka to Tinybird?
- How do I load a S3 file into tinybird?
- How do I optimize this SQL?
- Is there any way to create a workspace with the tinybird cli?
- This python script is returning this error, what could it be?
- I have this use case with two datasources (3B rows each). How do I join them in real time?
- What is the best way to improve response time in this endpoint?
- What’s a materialized view?
Some bits about the way we work
- We are a remote-first company. All our previous companies were remote-friendly companies as well. We have office hubs in New York and Madrid, we love to see each other and work face to face regularly, feel free to go whenever it suits you.
- Your work will impact everything we do, so we strive to maintain full transparency across the business. You will always know what is going on at the company and will be expected to share openly with your peers.
- Here you can download and review our company principles, let us know what you think!
A bit more about the hiring process
We value your time so we try to simplify the process as much as possible. Every candidate will get an answer and we get in touch to let you know where you are in the process.
- First contact meeting to introduce ourselves and get to know you. We’ll answer any questions you have and we’ll explain any position details.
- You will have to solve a simple async test. There is no time limit (although we encourage you to not spend more than 2 hours). The test will reflect one of the many different questions you can face during a normal day at work, so we will be interested in your manners, your explanations and your reasoning.
- If you succeed on the previous test, you will meet with 2 Tinybird members. It will be a more technical interview that you could also use to meet your future colleagues and learn more about the role.
- We make you an offer.
That's it!
Compensation
- Competitive Package. Based on your experience and market, you will receive a competitive salary and target bonus, up to 105K, as well as stock options.
- Unlimited PTO. We will not count the days you take off, but we insist you take at least 22 days off per year. Plus, your birthday off and public holidays… but, who’s counting?
-
Work remotely. You have the freedom to work from wherever suits you best, so long as you can meet the obligations of your role. This time we are looking for someone based in US timezone, west cost is a plus.
- Equipment of your choice. You get to choose the equipment you need to do your best work ($2,600 budget).
- Healthcare benefits (US employees). Medical, Dental, and Vision plus a 401K plan.
